Decades of introduction of fish from other regions have put the delicate balance of local fish fauna at risk. Italy, with its incredible biodiversity, is home to at least six species of native salmonids, which inhabit the cold waters from the Alps to the Islands. These fish, which have swum in our waterways for over a million years, are today among the species most threatened with extinction.
However, thanks to conservation projects such as LIFE Streams, important steps are being taken to safeguard native trout and their habitats, raising awareness among communities and institutions.
To learn more and discover the fascinating world of the native trout, we invite you to πΏπ π©π§π€π©π π πͺπ€π’ππ£π, a free event that will be held on February the first, in which Marco Carafa, zoologist of the lead partner Parco Nazionale della Maiella, will talk about our project. It will be a unique afternoon, moderated by Bruno DβAmicis, in the company of experts, enthusiasts and the famous Canadian illustrator Paul Vecsei.
