In recent days, STREAMS interventions have been carried out along some watercourses of the Sibillini Park.
In particular, between 28 and 30 May eradication interventions were carried out along the Ussita stream and along the Sordo and Pescia streams, in the Norcia area. Through the territorially competent Veterinary Services, the trout taken were given to the IZS of Umbria and Marche, for the implementation of the health monitoring program aimed at ascertaining the state of freedom of the waterways from certain fish pathologies ( in particular SEV and NEVI).
Furthermore, on 31 May, interventions were carried out to repopulate the Mediterranean trout by introducing fry and trout produced by genetically selected breeders from the Borgo Cerreto ichthyogenic plant in the Umbria region, which – together with the Regional Forestry Agency and the Department of Biology and Biotechnology of the University of Perugia – is carrying out conservation interventions on the Mediterranean trout as part of the Life IMAGINE project and has made itself available to collaborate with the Sibillini Mountains National Park for our project.
Specifically, 750 fry were released in the Sordo, 4000 fry in the Pescia, 750 fry in the Nera a Visso and over 250 trout in the Ussita.
The operations were conducted by the technicians of the Hyla Naturalistic Studio and Aquaprogram in collaboration with the staff of the Park and the Umbria Region whom we sincerely thank.
