With the transfer of 1,000 eggs close to hatching from the CISI in L’Aquila, the STREAMS fish hatchery at the Maiella Park enters into full operation.
The structure – made of dry wood to minimize the environmental impact as much as possible and inaugurated last December 16th in the heart of the “D. Brescia” in the municipality of Sant’Eufemia a Maiella (Pescara) comes into operation today.
The translocated eggs will soon become fry and trout ready to be released back into the STREAMS sites, marking a significant step forward in the protection and conservation of the Park’s biodiversity.
Furthermore, the other 1,000 eyed eggs also come from the CISI of L’Aquila which, using the Vibert box technique, were sown in some waterways of the Maiella National Park.
