Native salmonids reproduce in the winter months: to guarantee an intervention as effective as possible and reduce the effects of domestication, the embryonated eggs close to hatching are placed in artificial nests with the aid of Whitlock Vibert boxes: These boxes – positioned inside heaps of pebbles, gravel and stones – will allow the hatched larvae to remain hidden in the substrate until the yolk sac is completely reabsorbed”.
