The first sowing of Mediterranean trout fertilized eggs was carried out on Wednesday 12 January in the Sibillini Mountains National Park, in the Sordo stream at Le Marcite di Norcia. The approximately 6,000 eggs – produced in the Cantiano fish hatchery by genetically pure Mediterranean trout individuals from the Nera basin, in implementation of the previous Life TROTA project – were placed in artificial nests inside Vibert boxes.
The repopulation program is carried out by the University of Perugia and the companies Hyla and Aquaprogram as part of a collaboration agreement between the Park, the Marche Region and the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, manager of the Cantiano plant. Another step towards the protection of biodiversity.
