On 16 and 17 October, some technicians from the Montemarcello Magra Vara Regional Park met with technicians and park rangers from the Protected Areas of the Maritime Alps in the Marguareis Park (CN). Together they captured fish, measured and sampled biological tissues for genetic analysis, in order to monitor the current state of the fish fauna present and develop possible conservation actions with respect to possible problems of hybridization, excessive predation or the presence of alien species.
The procedures applied are those that Ispra, the University of Perugia and other managers of Protected Areas are testing in dozens of Italian basins between Calabria and Piedmont.
In these mountain streams, in addition to trout and source chars, there are still populations of bullhead, species of great conservation interest.
