In the first week of September 2020, the staff of the Pollino National Park, together with the Cesbin technicians, started the sampling activities for the characterization of the fish assessments present in the Park’s waterways pertaining to the LIFE STREAMS project.
The investigation activities on S. cettii were carried out in the basins of the Rosa, Argentino, Esaro and Abatemarco rivers, while the preliminary inspections for the choice of sampling stations were carried out on the Grondo and Campolungo rivers.
The results were very encouraging both in the collection of the data necessary for the characterization of the trout population of the water bodies investigated, and in the collection of tissue samples for genetic analyzes, which are essential for the continuation of the project.
The PNP is confirmed as a very interesting area due to the good state of conservation of the river habitats and the fish assessments present.
