With this morning squeezing of the Montemarcello Magra Vara Park, the first season of native trout reproductions for our LIFE STREAMS project officially kicks off.
The operations involved 12 mature female trout which produced about 20,000, immediately fertilized with fresh semen of 30 male individuals, to ensure maximum genetic variability.
Now we just have to wait for the fertilization to be successful, so in spring we can reintroduce the fry.
In addition, around 10 January, another day of squeezing is planned, probably for another 6 female trout.
