Last Friday in Cerreto di Spoleto, during the presentation of the results of the project “In action for the river” promoted by Legambiente and Unipol Corporate as part of the #BellezzaItalia campaign, the contribution on a national scale of our LIFE STREAMS for the protection of the Mediterranean trout was also mentioned.
Both projects share the objective of protecting river ecosystems and species at risk, through scientific monitoring, active participation of citizens and the improvement of aquatic habitats.
“In action for the river”, created by Legambiente Umbria with the support of the University of Perugia and some local fishermen, observed 268 nests of Mediterranean trout in 8 stations on the Nera and Corno rivers. The abundance of macroinvertebrates has almost doubled compared to 2020, and 5 out of 8 stations show good chemical-physical parameters of the water.
An integrated approach to the protection of river ecosystems is confirmed as fundamental to achieving significant results in safeguarding biodiversity.
